In a standard DNA paternity test, the tested parties include a child, the alleged father, and the mother (optional) called a trio. However, we can perform a paternity test without mother's participation (called a motherless).
A motherless test involves additional analysis, which is performed without any additional charge. Results are typically equally conclusive whether or not the mother participates. In rare cases adding the mother's sample could be useful.
We use the painless buccal (cheek) swab to collect samples. We only need samples from the alleged father(s) and child, the mother’s sample is only needed in rare cases. The alleged father(s) and child do not need to provide samples at the same time. Also, we have extensive affiliations with other collection sites in the US if a participant is in another area. Call 757-469-3921 for more information.
Optional – If you are unable to collect a mouth-swab DNA sample, we may be able to test a foreign object for a DNA profile. Check our
Non-Standard Samples section for a list of possible samples.
When discussing the DNA results, we’ll provide a probability whether two participants are related. Depending on the characteristics of the provided sample and complexity of the case, the results will be up to 99.9999% accurate.
Our prices assume all DNA participants are local and come to our office. If one or more participants are located in a different area, there will be additional collection and shipping charges.
This test will determine if the “alleged father” tested is the biological
father of a child and results are for personal use.
If you require evidence in a court case, or similar legal situation, you will need a legal DNA Test.
Whether you notice a stain, a smell, or gain a general sense of adultery, an Infidelity
DNA Test is the only way to gain scientific proof of a cheating partner. The results
will either ease your mind or be the evidence you need when you confront the person. Most people submit a non-standard sample for this test. We’ve had success in obtaining DNA from various sources (See Non-Standard Samples section for list). You do run the risk, however, of the non-standard sample failing for unexplained reasons or lack of DNA.
The Aunt / Uncle DNA Test will determine if a man / woman is the biological aunt / uncle of a child,
who shares a quarter of their DNA with the Aunt or Uncle.
The expecting mother must be at least 4 to 5 weeks pregnant.
When an Alleged Father is not directly able to be tested, testing at least one of his parents will help. Ideally, both parents of the alleged father, plus the mother of the child should be tested for best results.
The Y-chromosome DNA Test can only be used on male individuals; females do not have
the Y-Chromosome. If you are trying to test two male siblings, a grandfather and grandson,
or an uncle and nephew, they should have identical Y-Chromosome profiles.
When it’s not possible to test the alleged father, it may be beneficial to compare the child
with a sibling. The Sibling DNA Test will determine if two, or more, tested parties are
full-siblings, half-siblings, or unrelated. Unlike a paternity test, two siblings don’t always share DNA types in common when considering each marker tested. Each sibling should share half of their DNA in common, but it’s not uncommon for two full siblings to not share a number (allele) in common at each genetic location. For a Sibling DNA Test, the comparison relies on the statistics to determine how likely they are related.
The Maternity DNA Test will determine if a woman is the biological mother of a child.
Because DNA is shared equally between mother and father, we are able to determine,
with a set calculation, whether the woman IS or IS NOT the mother.
If you are unable to submit a standard sample, we have had success in obtaining DNA from various sources.
You do run the risk, however, of the non-standard sample failing for unexplained reasons. Consult the list for ideas below of what you can send.
Our tests are normally performed using two standard mouth-swabbed samples. Not only is this the easiest way to collect, there’s also a higher chance of collecting a good sample.
When considering a non-standard sample, please keep the following points in mind:
Note: Although the items listed are good examples, a usable DNA sample from a non-standard item cannot be guaranteed.
