Sometimes the Standard 5 panel test ($135) is not enough. You may know of a specific drug a person is taking but it’s not tested for with the 5 panel hair test. See the list below for details on which drugs are tested for in each of the multi-panel tests. All hair tests listed below are also available in Nail testing.

Hair Testing for Children

“ChildGuard” is a protective tool for children at risk in harmful environments. ChildGuard is the only hair drug test designed to detect passive exposure to drugs or drug abuse.

Children exposed to illegal substances are often vulnerable to violence, neglect, sexual abuse, physical abuse, criminals and/or criminal activity. The ChildGuard test places the investigative emphasis on the child’s environment, and not on personal drug abuse, by modifying conventional hair testing procedures.

This test provides information about the child’s environment for, up to, the past 3 months. A positive result indicates that the child has experienced one or more of the following: passive inhalation of drug smoke, contact with drug smoke, contact with sweat or sebum (skin oil) of a drug user, contact with the physical substance and accidental or intentional ingestion of illegal drugs. This research based, forensic diagnostic test, for passive exposure, is the first and only test of its kind.

Hair Testing is an accurate and effective method of finding users of drug and alcohol abuse. Using a small sample of hair cut at the scalp, this test detects and measures some parent drugs plus the amount of drug metabolites embedded inside the hair shaft. The collector only needs a small amount of hair (about 150 strands), which is cut as close as possible to the scalp. The collection process should not leave visible spots or changes in appearance.

A Hair Test is the most commonly used test for custody cases because it is accurate, tests for a long period of time and is difficult to cheat. Because many drugs are no longer detectable in urine samples after 3 days, hair testing is growing in popularity for pre-employment testing and for parents testing their teens. The validity of hair testing has been upheld by courts across the United States in both civil and criminal cases.

Hair Testing

Hair Testing is one of the only ways to get a long term in depth assessment (about 90 days using head hair and up to 1 year using body hair) to determine if someone has been using drugs. This is a great test for an employer or parent and the one courts use for almost all child custody cases. Features simple specimen collection and highly accurate results.

Negative results are reported within 48 hours of receipt at the laboratory, and positive results are confirmed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (GC/MS/MS) within 72 hours. Hair testing is also forensically defensible. Medical Review Officer (MRO) is included at no additional cost, if needed, to make sure you don't get a positive result because of a valid prescription.
